Mariel Gonzales has served as Chief Financial Officer of Facing History & Ourselves since 2018. Her accomplished career has seen her hold leadership positions in development, operations, strategy, and finance for organizations that promote social justice and encourage youth development and education.
Before joining Facing History, Mariel was Chief Financial and Administrative Officer at BPE (Boston Plan for Excellence), a nonprofit that trains teachers in urban teaching academies. Prior to BPE, she worked for nearly 10 years as Chief Financial Officer for YouthBuild USA. Over the course of her first three years at YouthBuild USA, the budget swelled from $17 million to $36 million, requiring her to establish processes for managing growth, expanding impact, and increasing compliance and efficiency.
She received a BA from Dartmouth College and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
