During the workshop, we will:

  1. Consider the values and concerns that inform back-to-school planning

  2. Explore Facing History and Ourselves’ back-to-school resources, including the Back to School Toolkit

  3. Share strategies, activities, and ideas for supporting student social-emotional needs

Join Facing History Chicago and fellow educators as we reconnect with one another and prepare for the start of a new school year. Together we will explore flexible resources designed to help you get to know your students as individuals, and to foster the process of creating an open, supportive, and reflective classroom community. 

In addition, we will model pedagogical strategies to support effective learning across content areas and meaningful engagement with contemporary issues and current events, in particular how to prepare to teach inclusive history. 

Materials and resources are designed for middle school and high school level students.

Cost: There is a non-refundable $25 registration fee due once your application has been accepted. The $300 fee for this seminar has been waived thanks to generous funding from Facing History and Ourselves donors and partner organizations.
