This professional learning event will be led by Facing History staff. When you register, you will receive instructions for how to attend the event.
This event qualifies for Certificate of Completion.
During this forum, we will:

Be in community with educators from around the Commonwealth to share and learn together

Engage with resources and content that can be implemented in middle and high schools, and how they align with MA standards, civic learning principles, and SEL.

Hear directly from a Witness to History speaker and consider the impact that personal narrative can have on student learning.

Provide guidance and support for MA educators around S2557 An Act Concerning Genocide Education.
At Facing History, we believe that core to the act of teaching is instilling in young people a sense of agency to stand up to bigotry and hate, and to make choices for a more just and equitable world. Genocide education provides us with a crucial opportunity to do just that, weaving together historical case studies and, tragically, ongoing current events including the recent rise in antisemitism. With the recent passage of S2557, “An Act Concerning Genocide Education,” Massachusetts educators have been tasked with incorporating genocide and human rights issues into their classrooms. Join us for a day of learning and conversation as we seek to build a common understanding of the legislation and the resources we have to support you.
