Are you actively seeking effective ways to engage students in an academically rigorous course of study that centers the principles of civil discourse?

As we enter an election year, do you anticipate navigating challenging conversations with students, parents, and other stakeholders?
Independent evaluation has shown that implementing Facing History’s approach improves students’ higher-order thinking skills, increases students’ civic efficacy and engagement with civic matters, and increases students’ tolerance for others who hold contrary views.
In this two hour online workshop, school and district administrators will:
- Experience Facing History's approach to professional learning.
- See examples of how Facing History integrates intellectual rigor, emotional engagement, and ethical reflection to support the growth and development of adolescent learners and improve student outcomes.
- Discuss the use of Facing History strategies and pedagogy to promote democratic learning environments that allow students to grapple with complex histories and choices.
- Build shared understanding with colleagues of how Facing History could help meet their school or district's goals.
Following this session, Facing History & Ourselves will be available to connect with you to talk more about Facing History’s approach, content, and pedagogy and to discuss ways to enhance learning experiences for students and educators you work with.
Cost: The $200 fee for this workshop has been waived thanks to generous funding from Facing History & Ourselves donors and partner organizations.
Certificate of Completion
At the conclusion of viewing the webinar, participants can download a Certificate of Completion for one hour of attendance. Certificates may be submitted for a school’s or district’s approval towards professional development credits. Requirements for professional development credits vary by state. It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure that they are meeting the requirements of their school, organization, and/or state.
